The Environmental Protection Agency manages the national ambient air quality monitoring network.
The Air Quality Index for Health is calculated every hour and tells you if air quality is good, fair, poor or very poor in your region. The above index is for overall air quality in the Cork City AQIH Region. You can find out if air quality is likely to affect your health and what you can do to protect your health on the Air Quality Index for Health page.
The PM10 and PM2.5 monitors are located in a suburban housing estate 1 mile south of the City Centre. It is operated by Cork City Council.
The measurement methods used for PM10 and PM2.5 are not automatic therefore the results are not available immediately. The most recent available results can be viewed through the links below. This work is ongoing.
Benzo (a) Pyrene and heavy metals are also monitored at this site.
