On 30 January 2006 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted ADM Ringaskiddy at Cork District Court. The Company pleaded guilty to permitting an emission of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) to enter Cork Harbour.
On hearing details of the offence from an EPA inspector, Judge Lucey imposed a fine totalling €1,500 and the EPA’s costs of €10,300 were also awarded.
