Environmental Protection Agency
Kerdiffstown Landfill Remediation Project
Community Update – Number 11

9th August 2012: EPA starts Phase 2 of Kerdiffstown Site Investigation Works

On Monday 13th of August 2012 three rigs will begin to drill a series of boreholes on and adjacent to the landfill site. These boreholes will help the EPA to gather more data on the site and, combined with the recent geophysical survey, samples from these new boreholes will increase our knowledge of the site and inform the design of the site remediation.
This phase of the site investigation will involve drilling holes deep into the landfill and drilling operations may generate some odour.  The EPA and its contractors will be working hard to minimise these odours. If you experience odours from the site, please contact us at

The drilling is scheduled to last for four to six weeks.

Further information about the EPA works at the site is now available online
