Annual reporting of environmental information by EPA-licensed facilities

The annual reporting of environmental information by EPA licensed facility operators falls into three Tasks. These are:

  1. AER / PRTR Emissions Data : Reporting of emissions and waste transfers information via the EPA’s AER / PRTR Emissions Data   Reporting Workbook.
  2. Full AER :  Submission of your Full Annual Environmental Report (AER). This is the “hardcopy” or “paper” AER specified under your licence.
  3. Full PDF AER . Submission of an electronic PDF copy of your full AER.

As of 01 January 2009, each of these steps is mandatory for all EPA-Licensed facilities.

The reporting obligation will not be satisfied until all three steps are completed and the EPA has confirmed that it has accepted the information.

The information cannot be accepted in any other manner or format other than that specified in the guidance documentation provided on this website.

AER / PRTR Reporting website

The EPA has developed a dedicated website for the submission of your AER / PRTR Emissions Data. This site is at http://aer.epa.ie/reporting.

The AER / PRTR Reporting website also has pages which facilitate the submission of your full PDF AER.

This site is only accessable by means of the facility specific Username and Password. These are supplied by the EPA in a letter and by email to all relevant facilities and should be retained carefully.

The EPA has developed a series of guidance documents that together provide comprehensive assistance for operators in successfully completing their annual environmental returns.

These pages provide information and guidance for operators of EPA-licensed facilities in making your annual submissions of environmental information as required under both your EPA licence and under the PRTR Regulations.
