24 March 2023 - Air Quality Information Day at TU Dublin
The LIFE Emerald team delivered an information day at Technological University of Dublin (TU Dublin). The event included a survey of student awareness & attitudes on air quality issues, a lecture to 1st Year students in the Public Health programme, and an information stand, and Air Quality ring board game highlighting the major air pollutants in Ireland.
22 February 2023 - Clean Air Together (Cork City) - Results Launch
The results of the Clean Air Together Cork project were launched on 22nd February. The results of this Citizen Science project will provide the EPA with important localised information on air quality in Cork City. See more details at www.cleanairtogether.ie
12 - 14 January 2023 - LIFE Emerald at BT Young Scientist Competition
The EPA’s attendance at the BT Young Scientist competition 2023 included a LIFE Emerald stand, with team members from EPA and UCC providing information on air quality issues and the LIFE Emerald project. The stand included an Air Pollutant Ring Board game, which drew large numbers of students and parents. Exhibition attendees were invited to capture as many different types of Ireland’s main air pollutants as they could for a small prize. This fun activity helped bring awareness of the types of air pollutants affecting our health in Ireland and the LIFE Emerald project.
May 2022 - Marking ‘’LIFE @ 30’’ – EPA Dublin & Kilkenny
The EPA, together with numerous organisations throughout the EU, celebrated the 30th anniversary of the EU LIFE programme. The LIFE programme is co-funding the LIFE Emerald project. For more information on the LIFE Programme click here.
23 November 2022 - National Air Event 2022
The National Air Event 2022 was opened by Eamon Ryan, Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications and included presentations by the Asthma Society of Ireland, the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, the Health Services Executive and An Taisce. The EPA gave an overview of the LIFE Emerald project.
29 November 2022 LIFE Emerald Mission Visit - Dublin
The NEEMO programme monitor for LIFE Emerald, Lauren Jeffries, met with the project team to review project progress in November 2022.
20-22 September 2022 National Ploughing Championships
The LIFE Emerald stand was part of the Government of Ireland exhibit at the Ploughing Championships 2022 – Ireland’s largest annual event. The team were on hand to provide information on air quality and showcase the LIFE Emerald project.
19 May 2022 LIFE Emerald Beneficiary Project Meeting
The EPA and Associated Beneficiary representatives (UCC & VITO) held the first post-Covid 19 in-person project meeting in Dublin to review progress on LIFE Emerald.
