The Irish Climate Information Platform, Climate Ireland, is a central source of climate data for Ireland. It aims to deliver climatic and adaptation information that is of direct relevance to climate adaptation planning in Ireland. Climate Ireland helps stakeholders adapt to the consequences of climate change and develop and implementation adaptation plans and strategies. The platform is a service provided through the Climate Ireland web portal and through the provision of scientific and technical advice through decision-making frameworks and tools.
Beginning under the EPA research programme, Climate Ireland was developed by researchers working at MaREI, University College Cork (UCC) and is funded by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications and the EPA. Work programmes are agreed by the Climate Ireland steering group comprising Met Éireann, Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, EPA, Geological Survey Ireland (GSI), Office of Public Works (OPW) and the Marine Institute.
