All licensed sites that operate equipment that contain Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) or Fluorinated gas (F-Gas) or use ODS or F-Gases in their production/manufacturing processes must maintain records as specified to demonstrate compliance with the ODS and F-Gas regulations:
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are conducting a survey on the handling, use, maintenance and disposal of ODS and F-gas containing equipment. This is a follow up to the survey that was carried out in 2021.
This questionnaire can be found here: Online Questionnaire and the deadline for responses is 31st January 2024.
All licensees who have ODS and/or F-gas equipment onsite, are recommended to maintain an up-to-date inventory of this equipment to help demonstrate compliance with regulations. In 2021 the EPA conducted a survey requesting a full inventory of ODS and F-Gas equipment from EPA licensed facilities. If you did not participate in the 2021 survey, you are now requested to submit an inventory (where relevant) to the EPA following the EPA template below by 31/01/2024.
An inventory is considered good practice as it can provide a summary of all the equipment on site and can be used as a means of tracking equipment and collating relevant information in relation to both these Regulations.
All licensed sites who use ODS or F-Gas on site will be asked to maintain up to date records at all times and these must be available for inspection on request by the EPA.
The EPA have developed templates for licensees to assist with ODS and F-Gas Management and reporting. Templates are available at Compliance & Enforcement: Air | Environmental Protection Agency (epa.ie) for the following:
