EPA Prosecutes Western Brand Group Limited

On the 5th of March 2019, the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Western Brand Group Limited at Castlebar District Court, Co Mayo. Western Brand Group Limited pleaded guilty to:
- Failing to comply with Condition 5.1 of the Industrial Emissions Licence, in that they failed to ensure that emissions from the installation did not exceed the emission limit values set out in Schedule B: Emission Limits of the said Licence, within the period commencing on the 9th day of May 2017 and ending on the 20th day of March 2018 (both dates inclusive).
- Failing to comply with Condition 11.1 of the Industrial Emissions Licence, in that they failed to notify the Agency as soon as practicable after the occurrence of an emission that did not comply with the requirements of the said Licence, within the period commencing on the 9th day of May 2017 and ending on the 1st day of May 2018 (both dates inclusive.
- Failing to comply with Condition 5.1 of the Industrial Emissions Licence, in that they failed to ensure that emissions from the installation did not exceed the emission limit values set out in Schedule B: Emission Limits of the said Licence, within the period commencing on the 17th day of May 2018 and ending on the 22nd day of August 2018 (both dates inclusive).
Judge Lydon convicted Western Brand Group Limited on all charges. She imposed fines totalling €6,000 and Agency costs were also awarded.
