EPA prosecutes Irish Water (Roscommon D0116-01)

On 15^th June 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Irish Water (Roscommon) at The Four Courts.

Irish Water pleaded guilty to:

• Failure to comply with Condition 3.3 on or about the 14^th of May 2020, in that one or more specified discharges from the waste water works exceeded the emission limit values for Orthophosphate (as P) as set out in Schedule A: Discharges and Discharge Monitoring, of the said Licence.
• Failure to comply with Condition 3.3 on or about the 30^th of September 2020, in that one or more specified discharges from the waste water works exceeded the emission limit values for Orthophosphate (as P) as set out in Schedule A: Discharges and Discharge Monitoring, of the said Licence.

Judge Halpin, having heard the evidence convicted Irish Water on both charges and imposed a fine of €500 in total. Costs were also awarded.
