EPA Prosecutes Uisce Éireann – West Clare PWS

On 17th of April 2023 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Uisce Éireann at Dublin District Court.
Uisce Éireann pleaded guilty to the following breach:
- Failing on or about the 15th day of January 2022, to comply with a Direction given by the Environmental Protection Agency dated the 28th November 2019 in respect of the supply of drinking water for West Clare (New Water Treatment Plant) Public Water Supply (Scheme Code 0300PUB1016), in that they did fail to submit a final report to the Agency by the 14th day of January 2022 containing monitoring results verifying that the Trihalomethanes parametric values as set out in the aforementioned Direction had been complied with by 31st day of December 2021 as required by the said Direction.
Judge Halpin, having heard the evidence, convicted Uisce Éireann and imposed a fine of €1,000. Costs of €9,012.46 were also awarded to the Agency.
