EPA Prosecutes Moyvalley Meats (IRL) (Unlimited Company) (P0192-02)

On 4th November 2024 the Environmental Protection Agency prosecuted Moyvalley Meats (IRL) (Unlimited Company) Tanderagee, Broadford, County Kildare in Naas District Court.

Moyvalley Meats (IRL) (Unlimited Company) pleaded guilty to breaches of conditions of its Industrial Emissions Licence (P0192-02).  Judge Ramsey, having heard the evidence convicted the company on the following charges and took a further two charges into consideration.  He imposed fines totalling €4,000.  Costs were also agreed. 

  • That it, on or about the 17th June 2020, did give to the EPA information which was false or misleading in a material respect, namely a declaration that all information contained in the 2019 Annual Report provided to the Agency on the said date was truthful and accurate, when information contained within the said report was not truthful and accurate in respect of the stormwater from non-process areas of the site passing through an interceptor before being comingled with the WWTP discharges in W1-1. 
  • That it, on or about the 28th March 2023, failed to install and maintain a silt trap and an oil separator for storm water discharges, at the installation, within six months from the date of the grant of the Licence.
