Project Abstract
Agriculture is a major pillar of the Irish and European economy. Agriculture delivers food and raw materials for processing that provide human nutrition, animal nutrition, which creates jobs and contributes to our cultural identity. However agriculture, like other sectors needs to address greenhouse gas emissions which are linked to climate change. GHGs cannot be looked at alone but in the holistic context of sustainability which will build resilience in the sector. We need to address the interrelated challenges of food supply, human health and environmental health as they are inextricably linked. We are taking a holistic approach to achieving a carbon neutral farm.
