Project Abstract

Nowadays, computing is comprehensive, and its level of penetration in the society, industry, economy, science and engineering will only increase. The energy of computing was not an issue in the past but is a grand technological challenge now. The share of ICT in the total energy consumption is quickly increasing and expected to exceed 2% of the global electricity demand by 2030. This situation is unsustainable and extraordinary efforts are needed to increase the energy efficiency in ICT. The proposed programme will develop software methods allowing the digital platforms to minimize the energy consumption without compromising on functionality or performance.
