Project Abstract
The farming community is under pressure to increase food production for rising world populations. At the same time, agricultural ecosystems are challenged by more commonly occurring extreme climatic events. In Ireland in 2018 alone, the Beast from the East brought extreme snowfall in spring, followed by a severe drought that summer, causing havoc with agricultural outputs. Increasing species biodiversity is key to protecting the outputs of agricultural ecosystems. STRIVE aims to develop new statistical models and insightful graphics for understanding data from biodiversity experiments. This research will recommend how to build sustainable agricultural ecosystems and help provide global food security. N/A SFI Frontiers for the Future
