Project Abstract
The rapid growth and proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to transform entire industries, creating new opportunities to improve the lives of people around the world. Equally, the potential of AI to accelerate the transition to a circular economy (CE) is yet to be fully determined. This project will seek to ascertain the role AI can play in the CE transformation in Ireland through creation of a roadmap to empowering the new possibilities unlocked by the AI to leverage the Irish Circular Economy (CE).This aligned with the validation of potential AI opportunities with the Irish industry sectors that could assit in the achievement of sustainable development targets. Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) intends to exploit its wide cross-sectoral membership community within the IMR industry Network to identify demonstrator feasibility projects for AI technologies potential to reduce their waste production. This project will identify added values (e.g. design of circular components, materials) and barriers (e.g. Ethical AI, AI Energy use) associated with using smart technologies AI in the Irish industry sectors.
