Project Abstract
Biodegradable ionic liquids with specific coordination modes for metal-based reagents and catalysts are the target green solvents for this project. Building upon our success in reporting the first biodegradable ionic liquids based on the imidazolium core we now must show the application of these sustainable solvents. Academia and industry demand that the hazards of these new materials are also established. All the novel ionic liquids prepared in this project will undergo extensive toxicology testing. This data collating structure with the toxicity of the tailored ionic liquid will be a reference standard for designing future non-toxic task specific ionic liquid solvents.
