Project Abstract

The aim of this project is to optimise a new supercritical fluid (SCF) deposition technique developed at UCC, employing carbon dioxide as a solvent and a reactant, to manufacture high yields of carbon nanocages. These nanocages have large surface areas and pore volumes and will be utilised as advanced adsorbents for water purification, by selectively extracting metal ions and biological pollutants.
