Project Abstract
This all-island and international consortium of researchers with experience of the development and application of Life Cycle and Carbon Footprinting tools and techniques to waste management, disposal and reprocessing options and will result in the development of an Ireland-specific LCA/CF Tool. This will be achieved by a literature review and review of currently available LCA/CT tools for integrated waste management, recommendations on the most suitable tool, development of an Ireland-specific inventory and database, model development trialling and delivery a programme of training and capability development for waste management decision makers and a final report and recommendations. We anticipate two peer-reviewed journal papers, presentation of the research findings as platform papers at a range of international conferences (ISIE, CIWM, ISWA), the continued development of research capacity in Ireland in the area of Industrial Ecology and Resource Accounting and a programme of training and capability development for industry, policy and decision makers
