Project Abstract
The CAT team is looking for social science expertise to assess the impacts of CAT, particularly in relation to the key project’s objectives 3. and 4.
The guiding research questions could be as such (guidance of the social scientist on the research questions is welcome):
1 What were the impacts of CAT Dublin on participants and non-participants?
2 What are key learnings based on the analysis of the surveys and a review of the communication that can inform CAT Cork?
Work would include:
1) A report describing:
a) the methodology to assess the societal impacts of CAT.
b) an analysis of the data obtained from the CAT surveys, including profiles of the respondents, segments (e.g. people with lower knowledge at the start vs higher knowledge), knowledge acquisition, attitude change and behaviour change.
c) a comparison of the socio-economic profiles and responses obtained in the national baseline for people located in Dublin with those of respondents to the first CAT survey.
Chapters 1 “Methology” and 2 “Impacts on citizens: facts and figures” of the report Societal impact of the citizen science project “CurieuzeNeuzen Vlaanderen” could be used as a point of reference.
2) The report could include an overlay of the NO2 measurements with socio-economic data and key findings. See report here for reference. [Note: the EPA Analytics team may be able to assist in mapping the data; the social scientist would interpret the data].
3) A review of the survey questions and communications sent to target audiences with a view to maximizing insights for future surveys and response rates.
4) Recommendations to foster knowledge acquisition, attitude change and behaviour change as part of CAT Cork and in partnership with key stakeholders.
5) Advice on key messages, channels of communications and interventions that could foster the recruitment and participation of people who usually do not participate in citizen science projects
