Project Abstract
We understand that the EPA is proposing to the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH) that additional radon prevention measures for newly-built properties should be included in a planned revision of the residential building standards. ESRI proposes to carry out an ex-ante cost-benefit analysis of these measures, conducted using methods consistent with Ireland’s guidance on Full Regulatory Impact Analysis (Department of the Taoiseach, 2009). The work would start in June 2022 with the intention of providing a draft report by October 2022.
We propose that this study would involve extending the existing EPA-ESRI Environment Research Programme agreement, specifically the research topic “Health and Wellbeing Effects of a Clean and Healthy Environment and Environmental Amenities.”
