Project Abstract
The aim of this fellowship is to maximise the use of remote sensing observations from Mace Head. This includes the continuation of measurements, maintenance of instruments, and exploitation of the delivered data by improving existing products and developing new procedures. Besides, a detailed analysis of measurements from more than 6 years of remote sensing at Mace Head will be done to improve our understanding of trans-boundary transport of pollutants and their impact on clouds and ultimately on the climate. This fellowship will enable the continued observation and characterisation of clouds and aerosols over Mace Head. In the duration of the grant period, the transport of natural occurring as well as anthropogenic aerosol, their properties and their interaction with clouds will be addressed. The accuracy of retrieved parameters will be improved. Another goal is the combined use of all remote sensing instruments in order to get the best products for advances in research as well as to serve the Irish public.
