Project Abstract
The main aim of this project is to comprehensively research, identify and map the location of all relevant water-research and monitoring infrastructure around Ireland, including Northern Ireland. The results will be collated and an extensive database and online inventory will be created which will present the study findings and mapping results in a clear and easy to use format. The catalogue database will contain all relevant information on the available infrastructure including their purpose, facilities and equipment, ownership, access, connectivity, and associated costs etc. A sustainable maintenance solution of the database will also be considered and a plan for post project maintenance will be outlined. Based on the study findings and gap analysis a roadmap outlining recommendations how best to develop a smarter water-research infrastructure in Ireland will be developed. Final report, Peer reviewed paper/s in journals in compliance with open access policy i.e. will provide green and/or gold-level open access articles. Target journals include Water Research, Water and Environment Journal, Environmental Science: Water Research & Technology, and Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research. Two-page summary report on project completion for inclusion on the EPA website, On-line interactive database platform and website detailing water-related infrastructure in Ireland, Non-peer reviewed publicity such as local newspaper articles, engineers Ireland articles, and/or policy papers, Oral or Poster presentations at relevant conferences, Organise an education event e.g. local school (primary, secondary, or third level), visit to communicate project findings and results to students.
