Project Abstract

This project seeks to inform pollinator and pollination service monitoring and conservation in species-rich grasslands by investigating 1) drivers of diversity in species-rich grasslands, 2) how rare pollinators can be monitored in these habitats and 3) how management can affect pollinators and pollination services in these areas. I will collaborate closely with the award winning Burren Farming for Conservation Programme and the National Biodiversity Data Centre to both achieve my research goals, and ensure that outputs from my research can be directly used in active conservation programmes. The results of this study will be used to inform species specific monitoring schemes and agri-environmental schemes to ensure they are beneficial for many aspects of biodiversity including pollinators and the crucial pollination services they provide.
