Project Abstract
A large body of work has been completed in NUIM and Environmental Enforcement agencies on the development of novel environmental technologies and procedures over the last 3 years. This project sets out to evaluate the issues and emerging solutions for environmental enforcement in Ireland and draw from the resources and expertise already built up in NUIM. The work will be carried out by an experienced team in NUIM taking advice from experts in some key areas. Over the duration of the project we will deliver peer reviewed publications, research findings to inform future policy and a suite of novel technologies for environmental enforcement. The findings of the research work will be presented to the broadest possible audience in a coherent manner through publication at national and international conferences and peer-reviewed journals (e.g. Waste Management - International Journal of Integrated Waste Management, Science and Technology and Journal of Materials Cycles and Waste Management). Reports and regular meetings and workshops will be held with stakeholders to share research findings. Importantly the Local Authorities in 3 Counties will be directly involved in the project and details of findings will directly contribute to the knowledge and capacity of agencies in Ireland and the EU.
