Project Abstract
Economic: This project will lead to the recommendation of a strategy for setting up a plant to recycle post-consumer plastic bottles into composite materials. If this could prove to be a cost-efficient process, Ireland would not have to rely so much on exporting its waste and reuse it in its domestic market or exported to economic partners. Environmental: With China refusing the world's waste, it is now being sent to south east Asia where it is sent to landfill, incinerated, or just littered. Recycling plastic bottles in Ireland would bring an alternative that would reduce bottles' impacts on our environment.
