Project Abstract
Expected benefits of direct relevance to the Irish agri-food sector but have European and global reach. Economic benefits: removal of costly waste burden; transformation of waste into valuable food products; opportunities for innovation, diversification and expansion of product offerings - all leading to potential jobs growth and improved economy. Environmental benefits: minimising loss in the food supply chain; prevention of unnecessary waste; reducing inefficient use of other resources used to produce food that isn't eaten; towards a circular, green economy. Potentially transferable to a wider range of fruit and vegetable wastes. Findings will be open disseminated and stakeholder workshop held.
