Project Abstract
This project aims to use the Clean Technology Centreis considerable experience and expertise in order to assist the take up of environmental technologies in Ireland. This will aid Ireland in fulfilling its role in the Environmental Technologies Action Programme (ETAP) (particularly in the development of an Irish Roadmap towards environmental technologies) and its continued progress towards sustainable development. In this study the Clean Technology Centre (CTC) will 1.Assess the current situation in Ireland regarding environmental technologies their status and implementation; 2.Acquire a similar overview of the situation in other countries both EU and elsewhere taking ETAP into consideration and focusing in particular on success stories; 3.Describe the main barriers to the take up of environmental technologies in Ireland with consideration to the unique situation prevailing in this country as well as socio-economic financial cultural environmental regulatory technical geo-political and other issues; 4.Lay out clearly a set of recommended policies and programmes which are required to overcome these barriers with special reference to success stories elsewhere both inside and outside the EU (e.g. Japan Canada) and 5.Develop an action plan to implement these policies and programmes with clear descriptions of the actions who should implement them when they should be implemented etc.
