Project Abstract

Tretorn is a major tennis ball manufacturer based in Portlaoise. Having reduced solvent usage by 60-70% in the manufacture of tennis balls thereby complying with IPC licence targets it is the companyis intention to now address the balancing percentage. This project is aimed at the ball assembly operation and will entail a radical change in the approach to ball assembly. The project will involve the design development and implementation of the assembly operation. A prototype operation will be designed and tested against predefined operational requirements. Production requirements will be addressed subsequently based on satisfactory completion of this pilot project. The anticipated output will be the complete removal of solvent from the assembly process. It will essentially reduce solvent usage to negligible quantities at the site. The effective introduction of such a project will address significant issues with regard to quality production efficiencies and enhance environmental performance.
