Project Abstract
The project proposes to investigate the feasibility of using of tungsten oxide nanowires for the detection of environmentally harmful gases and chemicals. The project shall be based on self-assembled tungsten oxide nanowires which are ideally suited to enhance gas sensitivity due to their high surface to volume ratio. It is intended to investigate how the physical structures of the nanowires affect their sensitivity to gases such as nitrogen oxides and reducing gases. It is further intended to investigate how doping the tungsten nanowires affects their sensitivity. All of the sensitivity determinations will be made through conductance measurements.
