Project Abstract
Furniture Recycling Ltd is changing it business model from recycling furniture and mattresses to upcycling this waste into viable insulation material, bedding products and horticultural substrate. Rather than incinerate the waste when the metal is removed from mattresses it can now be processed into viable insulation material which will reduce the importation of rockwool and fibreglass onto the island of Ireland. This project has huge upside for the circular economy in so far as it removes 12500 tonnes of waste going into landfill or incineration.
