Summary: Summary: This report sets out the results of the EPA’s assessment of local authority environmental enforcement performance for 2022. This is the second report under the revised Local Authority Performance Framework, which aims to align performance scores to the delivery of environmental outcomes under the National Enforcement Priorities (NEPs) by targeting key environmental issues. Local Authorities play a vital role in protecting the environment and they are responsible for enforcing much of our environmental legislation. The EPA assess 20 priority areas to measure how local authority actions are delivering outcomes. The emphasis is on the follow-up of any non-compliances so that real environmental improvements are achieved for air quality, water quality and waste management.
