The purpose of this consultation was to seek views on the designation of heavily modified waterbodies (HMWB) and the technical review process that has been conducted on potential candidates for designation as HMWB to feed into the final river basin management plan for 2022-2027.

The EPA has reviewed the outcomes of the consultation process and has made a recommendation to the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage on the waterbodies that meet the technical designation criteria. The EPA has also summarised the outcomes of the public consultation and provided all submissions made by the public to the DHLGH.
The Minister will consider the EPA's recommendations and the public submissions made and will decide on the next steps in the process of HMWB designation.
