In 2022, the EPA published the Noise-Health Ireland project, which assessed the relationship between environmental noise and health in a national and international context. The report identified some key policy recommendations, such as developing an ambient noise strategy for Ireland and that the noise-mapping bodies should work towards submitting strategic noise mapping data that include a complete road network for the agglomerations. The principal output of the project relates to the establishment of a national evidence base for the harmful effects and burden of disease of environmental noise in Ireland, coupled with recommendations for policy and practice. The final report is available at EPA Research Report 423
A two-year research project, Transitioning to Strategic Noise Mapping under CNOSSOS-EU, (new common noise methodologies) for Round 4 noise mapping was completed in 2021. The final report is available at EPA Research Report 382
